 Hello  everyone,

Today  I am going  to  share  my  ideas  about  21st  century  learning.

What  is  21st  century  learning?

There  is  no  doubt  that  we  can  call  the  21st  century  as  "the  age  of  technology". Therefore, in this   century  learning should  be  lifelong  more  than  ever. We  can  never  say " I  have  learned everything". Because  everything  changes  too  fast. This  rapid   techange  is  directly  related  to  technology. Hence,  it  seems  impossible  to  think  of technology  and  learning  seperately. I think  it  is   particularly   very  beneficial for  both  language   students  and  teachers.  However, there  are  the things  to  consider  while  the  teachers integrate  technology  into  the  class.

How  should  technology be integrated into   English  classrooms?

• First  of  all,  English  teacher  cantidates  should  be  educated in  this area  when  they  are  students  at  the  faculties  of  education. Just  like  in  our  school, Marmara  University  ELT  Department. 
•  Each  and  every  English  teacher  should  be  good  digital  literates  and  knowledgeable  about  legal and  ethical issues.
• They  should  use  a  digital  tool  only  when  it is  necessary .It  should  be  a  tool, not  an  aim.
• Teachers  should  plan  their  classes  in  accordance with their  pedagogical  goals  and  choose  appropriate digital  tools  among  thousands  of  others.The tool  should  be  embeded in the pedagogical goal.
•  Not  only  the  teachers  but  the  students should  use  technology  actively  in  and  out  of  class  when  it  is  necessary. 

What are the  advantages of  using  technology  in  English  classes? 

• A  lot  of  mobil  applications  or  web  sites  provide  students  exposure  to  English  in  and  out  of  classes.
• By  using  different  applications,  teachers  can  improve  students'  four  skills  easier  and  more  effectively. Such  as " Fligrid" for  speaking ," Quizlet"  for  vocabulary," Playposit " for  listening , "Padlet " for  writing   and etc.  
•  Shy   students  can participate  in  class  thanks  to  collaborative  applications.
• Teachers  can   give  assingnments  online , check  these  and  give  feedback  easily.
• Thanks  to  digital  tools ,lessons  can  be  more fun  and  time  can  be  saved.

Despite all advantages,can  the  result  cause  a  disadvantage?

As  we  see  above, there  are  several   advantages of   using  digital  tools  in  ELT  such  as  making  teaching  easier  and  more  fun  . Though,  to  tell  the  truth , I  don't  like   AI  at all. I  find  it  dangerous. It  does  work  faster,  cheaper and  even  better  than  humans  in  many  areas.I  fear  that  being  a  talented  and  well-educated  person  will  become  meaningless.Everything  will  be  done  by  AI. Unfotunetly, as  a  candidate  of  language  teacher, I am  afraid  that  learning  and  teaching  English  will  be  meaningless  as  well.😞
